Who We Are
PolyPV is driven by the need for rugged, portable energy in critical operations, particularly in defense, disaster relief, and remote field work. We leverage advancements in flexible Organic Photovoltaics (OPV) and scalable manufacturing to solve a high-severity problem: the operational risks and compromised safety that arise from unreliable power in the field. Our work has been supported and validated by federal research and commercialization programs, including STTR funding from the Office of Naval Research (ONR) and the National Science Foundation (NSF).
We design and manufacture flexible organic solar modules that combine low weight, high power density, and unparalleled durability. Unlike heavy, fragile, glass-based panels, PolyPV modules can be rolled or folded for transport, offering a field-ready source of renewable power that drastically improves portability and operational safety.
Our modules utilize a unique flexible architecture and proprietary materials design that is far more flexible and robust than conventional glass-based solar or other thin-film technologies like CIGS and a-Si.
Portability and Power Density
PolyPV modules are significantly lighter and feature a higher power density per volume, allowing them to be rolled or folded for easy transport in a pack.
High Performance
We have successfully developed a flexible modules achieving a power conversion efficiency of over 13%, positioning our technology among the highest-performing flexible OPVs fabricated using scalable techniques.
Scalable Manufacturing
Our process is optimized for roll-to-roll manufacturing using an ink-agnostic slot-die coating process, which enables lower production costs and high-volume scalability.
Real-World Reliability
Outdoor operational testing has validated the modules’ stability and consistent energy output across varying temperatures, sunlight intensity, and moisture, ensuring durability for demanding field use.
